Medium Aevum Quotidianum

The society for the study of the material culture of the Middle Ages, Medium Aevum Quotidianum was founded in 1982 as a communication platform for all those engaged in the study of the historical aspects of society and everyday life and material culture in the Middle Ages. This platform was provided in the form of a regularly published newsletter.

The MAQ newsletter was a trailblazer in 1982. We also place great importance on this fact in creating our new online journal. MEMO – Medieval and Early Modern Material Culture Online – now provides a publication format that makes optimal and creative use of the possibilities offered by the digital format and is able to meet the demands of the 21st century in the best possible way. MEMO is dedicated to sustainable scientific communication with an interdisciplinary orientation in the broad field of research on the material culture of the Middle Ages and the Early Modern period.

In addition, thanks to MEMO, all editions of the publication series of the Medium Aevum Quotidianum (MAQ newsletter and special editions) association published before 2016 are available digitally. The individual articles are accessible for full-text search and are available for download in PDF format. We hope that this will increase the availability, reach, and visibility of the (partly sold out) previous editions and make the tradition-building role of the journal series, which has existed since 1982, more apparent.
